One of my friends arrived home this afternoon to find a large parcel from a well-known online site attached to her letterbox with elastic bands. As you can see in the photos, the letterbox is right beside the footpath, and anyone walking or driving past could easily have helped themselves to this interesting-looking parcel.

Australia Post has a ‘Safe Drop’ policy which is as follows – If a signature isn’t needed, the delivery driver will look for a safe spot to leave your parcel. We’ll leave a card in your letter box to let you know where you can find your parcel.

Come on, Mr Delivery Driver, that really wasn’t a ‘safe spot’, was it?

In the time it took to secure the parcel to the letterbox with elastic bands, the parcel could have been taken a few steps further to the front door, where it would not have been visible from the footpath or road.

This parcel was 'safe dropped' ? I don't think so!
