Australia Post is from the 1st August going to charge $9 if you collect your parcel after 10 days from the post office. You are going to get hit with a charge after only 5 business days of $3, then building up after 10 days to $9.

This is a huge charge when you consider that many, many Australia Post couriers do not leave cards or attempt to find out if anyone is home. This makes it inconvenient if you work full time and struggle to get to a Post Office during the limited hours it is open.  This means that if you go on holidays just before you expect a parcel delivery, you will face the charge when you return and collect your parcel.

These seems another way to drive customers away from Australia Post and towards the many alternative courier services, some of which are now foreign owned.
