Australia Post has some strange definitions – here are some.

“Printed matter” – sheets of paper, NOT a book.  Thats right a book is not printed matter.

“Merchandise” – anything that is not “printed matter”

“Dangerous Goods declaration”  all Australia Post satchels except those that only take “printed matter” need a dangerous goods declaration signed so that it is confirmed none of the items in the satchel are dangerous goods according to Australia Post. This declaration is to allow the aprcel to be sent via air. If the declaration is not signed it will be sent slower via road.
